Third Week of Advent

"This week we reflect on Goodness and Light through the lens of deeply knowing something to be true. The texts guiding us this week are Luke 1:26-30 and Proverbs 3:3-6. To help prepare, consider the following words from Gerrard Winstanley. "Friends, wait upon the Lord for understanding. For you will never have knowledge until it awakes within you. If you follow so-called teachers and learn the exterior truths, you will still lack understanding, and sometimes become wrapped up in confusion and disillusionment. I can only tell you what I have found. Once your heart is made subject to Christ, looking to him for instruction, waiting with a calm and quiet spirit until he appears in you: then you will have peace, then you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. That which you seek, so that you might have peace, is within the heart, not without. The word of life, Christ the restoring Spirit, is to be found within you, in your head and in your heart: The Kingdom of heaven – Christ within you – is the Firstborn striving to emerge from the womb of your heart." ~ Gerrard Winstanley (17th century England)"
