Surprise Of Living Course

Course Description

Abraham Joshua Heschel once called prayer “our humble answer to the inconceivable surprise of living”. In this class we will use the lives of saints and mystics from the past to explore the prayer practices they are most associated with. Join us for this four week class as we discuss Visio Divina, Lectio Divina, Imaginative Prayer, and Ora et Labora (work as prayer).

What to Expect

Each class will include teachings from Dylan and time for meaningful conversation over each month’s topic. You might be interested in the class if you’re looking for an introductory course to the historical and practical aspects of contemplative prayer.

Course Schedule

One Saturday morning per month, August through November | 9:00 – 10:00 am | The Anchor House

There will be optional free time to explore the practices at The Anchor House until Noon following each class.

Course Cost

$40

The price for this course includes a stipend for the teacher and the cost of the family style meal for all six classes.
