When thinking about getting older, do you feel fatigued?

Do you want to move beyond your inherited ideas of aging? Have you ever wondered where is God in the aging angst? Are you interested in reinterpreting your later years? Join others on the aging journey in a book group that will help us take a loving look into our aging and how we might inhabit our later years with meaning and spiritual vitality.

Required Reading:

Green Leaves for Later Years: The Spiritual Path of Wisdom by Emilie Griffin. The book and reading/discussion schedule will be given at our first meeting on August 29. Questions for written reflection will be provided and participants will give/email their responses to the class spiritual director.

What to Expect:

This class will consist of reading, reflecting, writing responses, sharing responses with the facilitators, listening to others, keeping confidentiality, and attending as consistently as possible. “Homework” may be hand-written, typed and printed on paper, or emailed.

You might be interested in this class if you want to develop a spirituality that will sustain you in the later years. This class is for those who are tired of talking about their aches and pains and hunger for soulful conversation. This class is for those who are ready to sit in the shade of their own lives. This class is for those who sense there is beauty and grace to be found on their aging journey and want to travel for a bit with others who sense the same.

Meet Rachel Sciretti

Rachel Sciretti is Associate Pastor of The Center for Christian Spirituality as well as Adult Discipleship with Older Adults at Chapelwood UMC. While she is just a few steps into the second half of life, Rachel notices that her heart sings when she is in the company of older adults. Rachel spent two decades in congregational children’s and youth ministry and holds reverence for each season of life. Rachel is married to Michael and they have one daughter in college, one daughter in high school, one son in elementary school, and a beloved dog.
