The Blue Zones Way:
The Secret “Rules” for Living Better & Longer
Wednesday Evenings in June at The Anchor House | No Cost, Registration Required
Live a whole, healthy life in light of a highter purpose
Throughout Christianity there have been many individuals and communities that have crafted a “rule of life” or “way of living” that encapsulated basic principles and practices for living a whole, healthy life in light of a higher purpose. In this class The Blue Zones Way, we will attempt to do something similar, inspired by the research of Dan Buettner. He is an explorer, National Geographic Fellow, award-winning journalist and producer, and New York Times bestselling author. Over his life he has identified the five original “Blue Zones” – the places in the world with the healthiest, longest-living populations, including Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; and Loma Linda, California.

In this 4-week class, we will apply Dan Buettner’s groundbreaking research from the world’s most extraordinary populations to our own lives, specifically the Power 9 “rules” they seem to live by. This is one way to think about living by a “rule of life” or “way of life” that leads to wholeness, integrating all dimensions of a full human life: physical, emotional, mental, social, environmental, and spiritual.
Suggested Viewing & Reading
To deepen your experience of this class, we recommend watching the 4-episode Netflix series Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones. We will provide opportunities for watching each episode together in The Anchor House the week prior to each class meeting, if you don’t have access to Netflix.
In addition, we recommend the texts Blue Zones: Secrets for Living Longer – Lessons from the Healthiest Places on Earth and Blue Zones Challenge: A 4-Week Plan for a Longer, Better Life.
Each class 3 “sponsors” will be responsible for supplying lite bites for participants using some of the recipes from The Blue Zones Kitchen.
