Part of the lure of the holiday season is the distraction from the harder things in our lives. We welcome the sparkle of lights, the sweets and treats, the beautiful music, and the fellowship of people we love. But when our culture pushes “have a holly jolly Christmas,” Advent invites us into a deeper experience – a holy honesty. We can “play” at the holidays in our shopping, decorating, and party-going, but in the spaces of the heart, we know the truth.
For December’s Guided Silent Retreat, the ancient voices of prophet, priest, maiden, and carpenter will be our guides. Their stories and longings will stand as light posts on our way to discover the hope, peace, joy, and love held in the manger of our hearts.
Join us for a day of silence and listening as the Holy One comes to us through ancient texts, prayer stations, and the sacred comfort of The Anchor House. You are very welcome here.
The cost of the retreat is $35 and includes the price of lunch. We don’t want anyone to miss out because of pricing. Contact Haley for information on scholarships at hbrown@chapelwood.org.
