The Secret Embrace
A Day of Centering Prayer
with Thomas Keating
Monday, November 1, 2021 | 9:00am, 12:00pm, and 3:00pm
Due to a family conflict, Pastor Michael Sciretti has moved this event from October 25th to November 1st, which is All Saints’ Day. Come mark this special day with this Day of Centering Prayer organized around the poetry of one of the great Christian contemplatives of our time — Thomas Keating, who died on October 25, 2018. Thomas Keating’s last book of poetry, The Secret Embrace, will be the primary text for our prayer retreat. You will not have to have this text to participate; Michael will use excerpts from the book for our times of meditation. We will practice Centering Prayer together at 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. We will read and reflect on Keating’s poetry in-between our times of Centering Prayer. After our final time of Centering Prayer, participants will be invited to share what they experienced and what they are taking with them from the experience. We will end by 4:00 p.m.
The Secret Embrace by Thomas Keating.
In between our times of Centering Prayer, we will spend time reading and reflecting on the poems from his final book and teaching, The Secret Embrace. Purchase your own copy of the book HERE. If attending in person, bring your own lunch. Water and coffee will be provided. There is no cost, but you may make a donation HERE.
