Give Yourselves”: A Contemplative Communion Liturgy
A liturgy offering a contemplative understanding of communion that emphasizes that “Communion” is ultimately about giving - giving ourselves. The liturgy was used in Contemplative Worship on May 10, 2020 in the context of the quarantine and our community not being able to receive communion as is our custom. What has emerged is a realization that ultimately we are called to Be Christ and give ourselves. The liturgy is taken from “Talking with Angels,” transcribed by Gitta Mallasz in the midst of the oppression of the Hungarian Nazis from 1943-44.
