Event Details

Saturday, Feb. 1 | 9:00am – 2:00pm | The Anchor House | $35

Henri Nouwen wrote, “Writing can be a true spiritual discipline. Writing can help us to concentrate, to get in touch with the deeper stirrings of our hearts, to clarify our minds, to process confusing emotions, to reflect on our experiences, to give artistic expression to what we are living, and to store significant events in our memories.” When journaling feels like prayer, it moves beyond just filling pages with words we want to say. A conversation occurs. We believe that we’re not alone with our pens and, through that understanding, we encounter the Divine. In this February Guided Silent Retreat, we will begin with a time of centring prayer followed by a brief discussion by Dylan on the contemplative history of journaling. A collection of journaling prompts will be provided along with a journal and pen. We will hold silence for the majority of the day as we embark on our writing journey. Lunch will be provided and we will end with a brief time of sharing for those who wish to share.

The cost of the retreat is $35 and includes the price of lunch and a journal. We don’t want anyone to miss out because of pricing. Contact Haley for information on scholarships at hbrown@chapelwood.org. Please register by January 30.
